The existing organic standard has specifications regarding packaging and labeling of organic produce to safe guard the interests of both the consumer and the producer. Organic Uttaranchal produts have been prepared to compete in the open market in terms of quality. Organic producer groups have been trained exclusively for packaging of produts. Extension Staff and Master Trainers have also been engaged to train and pack products. COF marketing and technical team has played a leadling role to develop special packaging and lebeling as per the national and international standards. Now this technical know-how and complete process of packaging and labeling has been disseminated to the producer group. The following achievements are noteworthy in this regard:
So far packaging for 25 products has been developed.
Farmers and producer groups have been trained on packaging specificities.
Special packaging kit has been developed and handed over to the producer group on a contribution basis.
COF facilitated 06 tons of organic basmati rice export.
Long term marketing relations with large international buyers like Rapunzel has been built up.
Suitable private agencies for export have been identified and tripartite agreement has been singed.
Barnyard millet husk baby pillow is in the pipe line for export.
Samples of products like kidney beans, buck, wheat, mountain millet, sesame have been sent to many potential international buyers for future export.
Export of Organic Kutki (a medicinal herbs) is being facilitated for M/S Vanderstelt Producten, Holland.
