Organic Agriculture in Uttarakhand is a manifestations of the traditional environment stewardship of the people of the state which now provides a meaningful economic support for of the state.

A number of steps have been taken by the state which is supporting the organic area expansion. Establishment of the nodal agencies for the development, marketing as well as the certification is one such step. In the last four years the state has progressed from a certified area of 20 ha. to approximately 18000 ha. in the year 2007-08.
