Quality Cell

Background

The Quality Cell has been established at UOCB for implementation of Internal Control System (ICS). ICS is a special programme for certification of small and marginal organic farmers in low cost.


Methodology

The Quality Cell registers marginal and small organic farmers under ICS and internally inspects their farms, processing and handling units as per organic standards of various countries and then recommend for external certification to External Certification Agency.

Commodity and area related data generated during internal inspection are compiled at the Quality Cell and then extended to buyers in order to expedite the trade. Cell also facilitates the buyers in the issuing of 'Transaction Certificate" for the commodities procured from registered farmers with UOCB.
